Gladstone 2018

3DAAA Queensland State Series

The Gladstone Field Archer’s event was held on 22nd to 23rd of September 2018.

There were   62 registered competitors,  plus associated visitors / family.

We had people attend from all areas of QLD and NSW,  so we thank  everyone who made the journey to our club, as we know it is a fair distance to travel.

The weather was great for shooting, and we had set up 3 x 10 target ranges on Saturday and 2 x 10 target ranges on Sunday.  Everyone enjoyed the ranges which had varying degree’s of difficulty  over the different terrain we have at our club. While there were no 100’s awarded a lot of shooters came very close.

We had bought 8 new targets from Toowoomba archery supplies,  these were the ones that were recently approved by 3DAAA,  initial reviews have seen them hold up well over the weekend shoot without any significant damage,  They came with base plates so they are free standing and are well worth looking into if your club needs some additional targets, and they are Australian made.

We were able to fire up the pizza oven on Saturday night for everyone to have wood fired pizza’s, and  it was great to see everyone enjoying the clubhouse.

Saturday night saw a novelty event put on  with knife and axe throwing.  There were two divisions, adult and juniors, it was an excellent turn out and everyone had a great time.  The knife and axe throwing turned out to be more challenging that everyone first expected.

Sunday saw the top 10 shoot out which was competitive in both the aided and unaided divisions.

A small group of travellers and club members stayed on the Sunday night, so they  could relax and travel on the Monday.

A big thankyou to  everyone who helped behind the scenes in the canteen, and  setting the ranges.

Hope to see everyone again next year for another great weekend.
